ABOUT THE FILM

Cannonball Run II (also known as Cannonball Run 2) is a 1984 film directed by Hal Needham, produced by Albert S. Ruddy and written by Harvey Miller and Hal Needham. It stars Burt Reynolds and an all-star cast, released by Warner Bros. and Golden Harvest. Like the original film Cannonball Run, Cannonball Run II is based around an illegal cross-country race.

This was the last of the “formula” comedies for Reynolds. It is also marked the final feature film appearances of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. Their appearances, coupled with those of Sammy Davis, Jr. and Shirley MacLaine, marked the final on-screen appearance of the old Rat Pack team.

STORYLINE

The Sheik who competed at the last Cannonball Run, is berated by his father for not winning it. So he tells him to go and win. Problem is that there is no Cannonball Run. So his father tells him to make one of his own. He puts up a million dollars as the prize. So former Cannonballers J.J. and his buddy Vince join, as does Blake and Fenderbaum and some other characters. But Blake and Fenderbaum owe a mobster some money and the mobster owes some other guy more. He then decides to grab the Sheik and hold him for ransom so he can pay the guy back.

Poster Collector

Simon, is a movie poster warrior who collects far too much. He also writes posts, articles, and guides for The Poster Collector. He also fancies himself a bit of a sports star in his hometown and spends too much time researching and finding new movie posters to acquire. If he’s not typing away at his keyboard or searching auctions, you can probably find him watching James Bond or Star Wars (or both).
